Q: While decreasing, I have trouble keeping the pattern. Is there a video showing how to decrease and keep the pattern? Also, should I decrease after the K1/P1 at the beginning of every row or do I have to decrease with that stitch and the next?

A: When decreasing the stitches for the Bernat Cocoon Knit Cardigan, you will decrease the first two stitches of the row and the last two stitches of the row. The decreases will end up in the seams and be hidden when you’re finished. As for having difficulty keeping in pattern, this is where reading your knitting comes in and is an important skill to have in your knitting toolbox. If your last two stitches were suppose to be K1, P1 and you K2tog to decrease, take a look at your first two stitches when you turn your row. Do you have a purl bump and the next a knit stitch? Then you will K1, P1 across the row. To maintain seed stitch, you will knit the purls and purl the knits. Hope this helps you on your way! Happy knitting!

Q: On the decrease section for the back. How are you supposed to only decrease 5 it's from the beginning starting number to the second number. The math isn't matching to only drop 1 stitch every 6 rows..

A: For the Cocoon Cardigan, depending on the size, you begin with 78 (84-88-94-100-108) sts. You decrease at EACH end of the row once, and every following 6th row 5 times more. This gives you a total of 6 rows where you will be decreasing, and two stitches lost each time, for a total of 12 stitches decreased, leaving 66 (72-76-82-88-96) sts. I hope this gives you the clarity you need to move on. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have additional questions.

Q: I can't find the specific yarn this pattern requires, which other yarn would be good for it? Thank you!

A: There are several possible substitutes. Bernat Symphony - closest in weight. https://www.yarnspirations.com/products/bernat-symphony-yarn?_pos=1&_psq=bernat+symphony&_ss=e&_v=1.0 Red Heart Hygge - different texture but very soft and uses the same needle size needle. https://www.yarnspirations.com/collections/yarn/products/red-heart-hygge-yarn?variant=47071352783163 Patons Classic Wool Roving - best fiber match, but a little thinner yarn. https://www.yarnspirations.com/products/patons-classic-wool-roving-yarn?variant=47070196793659
