    Gorgeous hat

I just completed this hat and it is gorgeous! I found the video helpful to get started and the pattern was easy to follow. I do think this will be more difficult for a beginner to follow. The person I made this for has difficulty finding hats big enough to fit and I found the pattern easy to adjust to fit him. Definitely will be making more of these!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Ended up a cone shape every time

I love the idea of this hat. I’m new to making hats so not sure how to recognize what to change in a pattern to make it work. I frogged this pattern 3x and adjusted my hook sizes and tension, but each time ended up with a very large cone shaped hat. I counted my stitches and followed the pattern exactly. Did anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it?

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thanks for reaching out about the Cozy Crochet Trapper Hat. A few things come to mind. First, the hat has a bit of a tendency towards a cone shape. Second, blocking is often helpful and even necessary to help relax the stitches of your crocheted fabric. If you've never blocked before, here's an article that can give you more information. https://www.yarnspirations.com/blogs/how-to/rh-20130606-blocking-as-a-finishing-touch?_pos=4&_psq=blocking&_ss=e&_v=1.0 We hope this is helpful for you in getting your desired hat shaped!

Video left me high and dry midstream

To be fair, I haven't yet read the pattern in detail, but I'm a visual learner and was glad to see there is a video. You did such a great job demonstrating the first part of the . How've, after building the first row of the earflap lining you sent out a bomb of ventage without any supportive visuals. I am confused. Do I stitch the subsequent lining rows into the flap rows and then stitch around the entire flap of do I just build the flap lining upon its first row and then stitch it all together? What about the test of the hat? I guess I don't see the point in having a video of you are going to provide visuals for each section of the project. I will read the pattern and hope it will become clear. <shrug>.

No, I do not recommend this product.

We're glad you found the video for the Cozy Crochet Trapper Hat. The video is most effective when worked together with the pattern. Since a number of different parts of the hat are worked in the same way, the video does not repeat how to do those sections, but you can go back and replay those section as you continue to progress through the pattern. To answer your next question, build up each lining flap onto the first row, and then attached it the end when you work 1 row of sc evenly around outer edge of the hat as shown in photo, working through both thicknesses of Flap and Lining sections. We hope that this gives you additional clarity as you work the pattern.
