2 months ago1 AnswerA: The short row technique itself is when you literally work short of a full row. You will turn the work and leave stitches unworked. What this allows for in the fabric is some gentle shaping by adding fabric just where it is needed. In the case of the Ribbed Crochet Cardigan, it forms a wedge-shaped piece of fabric to the front for a nicely-fitted cardigan. We have included a marked-up photo for you to see the wedge shape (in the green markings) and where the short row turns are (in the yellow). As long as you follow the instructions verbatim, you should have no trouble working these short rows. One tip we should highlight for you is that after you have worked the first short row and worked the next row, you will have another short row. The next short row is longer than the previous short row. When you get to the last stitch of a previous short row, you will work a Sc2togbl using the last stitch of the previous short row and the first unworked stitch to close the gap created when the short row and following row were worked. We hope this is exactly what you need to move forward with confidence and continue building your crochet skills. Happy stitching!
2 months agoHelpful?Q: I'm having a hard time understanding the "shape back" instructions. After the Ch. 33, it's not clear. "1Hdbchb in each st to end of row" doesn't make sense. Am I supposed to connect the Ch 33 then continue in the pattern as instructed? Please help!
3 months ago1 AnswerA: We are happy to help you with the Ribbed Crochet Cardigan. This pattern is crocheted on the vertical in two halves: the left side of the cardigan and the right side. On the left side, you just shaped the armhole where you left stitches unworked. Now, you need to get back to the full length of the cardigan again. To do so, you will chain 33 and then immediately begin working hdc stitches down the chain, beginning with the 3rd ch from the hook. After you have worked 1 hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook and each of the next 30 chains, work 1 hdchb in each stitch of the cardigan. This attaches your new chain piece to the cardigan for the upper back. Shape Back: 1st row: (WS). Ch 33 (33-37-37-41-43). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each of next 30 (30-34-34-38-40) ch. 1 hdchb in each st to end of row. Turn. 97 (97-101-101-105-107) hdc. PM at end of row. Hopefully, this is just the explanation you need to go forward with confidence. Happy stitching!
3 months agoHelpful?Q: I need the instructions for left hander
3 months ago1 AnswerA: We do not have left handed pattern instructions for our patterns. But you can follow the instructions, but the patterns left side will be your right side, and the patterns right side will be your left side.
3 months agoHelpful?Q: Do you have a graph or video for the sleeves? I’m a visual learner and just cannot understand the sleeve instructions. You’ve written me back in this in the past, but it’s still not clicking in my head. Please help me, I’d love to finish this sweater.
