It's doable, but I wouldn't give this pattern to a beginner. Written pattern is understandable, but there are several mistakes in crocheting charts. Also, with these instructions for the brim it doesn't really look like Newsboy hat. I sewed only half of the brim instead of all of it to make it a little bit more similar to a newsboy hat, but the photo is a bit misleading (or the instruction in not clear enough how to achieve this look

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Newsboy Pumpkin Crochet Hat. We appreciate that you took the time. There is a video for this pattern that can be found at https://youtu.be/Vc7cMXrzEs8?si=OsFVIveY2nJUBO83 that is set to begin at the brim. We would love a bit more feedback on the specific issues you found in the charted instructions.

    Looks great, very hard.

Looks amazing! But definitely not easy. Did this with my grandma who's been crocheting 50+ years and it was difficult for both of us. We both messed up the top and brim and neither of us know how.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Confusing and poorly-written

Pattern instructions do not match chart. Not sure which to follow? Hat ended up being more like pointy witch hat than poofy newsboy… and can’t figure out how brim is supposed to fold. Granted, the pattern is free, but I’ve followed plenty of free patterns than were more sensibly written.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for reaching out regarding the instructions for the Newsboy Pumpkin Crochet Hat. As shown by the sample photo, it is pointy at the top but should fit the average head like a newsboy style hat. We are reviewing the written instructions for the brim. For now, we recommend following the diagram instructions for the brim beginning with the 29th Rnd while we review the pattern further. We do have a complete tutorial for this hat. It should help you with finishing your brim. https://youtu.be/Vc7cMXrzEs8?si=7dNWcbo9-nPu7DYw&t=1143 We hope this helps you finish your project!
