The instructions do not match the image at all. It is supposed to be knitted in double rib, the whole piece and the pic shows moss and garter stitch

No, I do not recommend this product.

The image does match the written instructions. This dickey is knitted from the neck down and seamed. The first 8 inches of it are completed in a 2x2 rib. The 8 inches is to allow for foldability (as shown on the model). Once that's completed, the body is worked in stockinette stitch with garter stitch borders on the edges. The garter stitch helps the stockinette lay flat and not roll on you. Once you've worked the required length you complete the piece with 6 rows of garter stitch. Again, the garter helps the fabric behave and not roll. You'll make two pieces, a front and a back, with both pieces being worked similarly. The front piece does have shaping that the back does not but the fabrics are the same: 2x2 ribbing for the neck, garter edge stitches with a stockinette center, and a garter border at the bottom. Once both pieces are completed, you'll seam them. There is no moss stitch included in this pattern but if you wanted to use that in place of the garter stitch you could. It would have the same effect in keeping the stockinette from rolling and provide visual texture.
