3 months agoThe creator of the pattern does not specify a crochet hook size. When I contacted the author, I was told that the gauge didn't matter (as stated on the pattern) so any hook size of my choosing would do, although she did suggest G or H. I have used G with success. However, at the end of crocheting the body of the fish, we end with a row of 8 stitches. The next row, #72, we attach Color A and crochet a row that ends up being 23 stitches. The way the instruction read, it is as though stitches to work on are missing, and looking at the photo, I'm guessing that there ought to be extra chain stitches added to work on. Row #72, as is, makes no sense. I am not a beginner, so I am able to fill in where I can see information is missing, but this transition from row 71 to 72 is beyond me. I hope the author can shed light on this and perhaps edit the instructions.Helpful?Response from Yarnspirations:3 months agoConsumer CareLet’s take a look at Row 72 of the Big Rainbow Fish. You’ll be working the row in a bit of a round. You should have 19 sts at the end of Row 72 and 23 sts at the end of Row 73. Working into the back loop only, join A with a sc, sc into the same loop again, sc in next 6, work 3 sc into both front and back loops of last stitch, working into the front loops only, sc in next 6, work 2 sc in last front loop. Turn. Row 72: Working in blo, join A with a sc, sc in same, sc in next 6, 3sc in both loops, working in flo, sc in next 6, 2sc in last. Turn. -

a year ago1 AnswerA: I'm sorry we do not have a video for the Big Rainbow Fish Pattern. Before working the tail, you are crocheting in rounds. To work the tail of the fish, you begin working in rows: Round 71: Fold in half, sc through both thicknesses. Finish off MC (8) >>this is where you transition from rounds to rows. At this point all the stuffing is in the fish. Row 72 is a tricky one- There are only 8 stitches- so you are working Row 72: Working in blo, join A with a sc, sc in same (this is an increase), sc in next 6, 3sc in both loops (of one stitch), working in flo, sc in next 6, 2sc in last. (another increase) Turn. >>some of the stitches are worked in the back loops only, some in front loops and some in both loops Row 73: ch 1, 2sc, sc in 8, 3sc, sc in 8, 2sc, turn. (23) Row 74: Ch 1, 2sc, sc in 10, 3sc, sc in 10, 2sc. Turn. (27) Row 75: Ch 2 (counts as 1st dc) 2dc in same, (this is a decrease) dc in 12, 5dc, dc in 12, 3dc. Turn (33) Row 76: Ch 2 (counts as 1st dc) 2dc in same, (this is a decrease) dc in 16, 5dc, dc in 16, 3dc. Turn. (43) Row 77: Ch 2 (counts as 1st dc) 2dc in same, (this is a decrease) dc in 19, 5dc, dc in 19, 3dc. Turn. (49) Row 78: Ch 2 (counts as 1st dc) 2dc in same, ((this is a decrease) dc in 22, 3dc)2 times. Turn (51) Row 79: (Skip I, 5dc, skip 1, slip in next) across. Finish off. If this does not get you back on track, can you provide a bit more specifics on the part of the instructions that is causing the confusion?
