Q: a little confused about the pm. The directions say PM 7 stitches from the arm hole edge. Do I stitch those 7 stitches and leave the rest to be used when attaching the sleeves

A: When you have worked the sleeves for the Bernat Elfin Crochet Cardigan, you will place your marker 1-inch down from the final row you worked. The markers will be placed at each outside edge of the work. I hope this clarifies the sleeve instructions. Please don’t hesitate to write back if you have additional questions. You’re so close to finishing - congratulations!

Q: I am struggling to understand the pattern. Namely how to attach the sleeves and then the finishing touches. I’m not a beginner but I’m no expert either! I was wondering if you could provide some guidance or a visual aid for me?

A: Thank you for reaching out about the Elfin Crochet Cardigan. The style of sleeve used here is a set in sleeve. Fold the sleeve in half so the fold is at the top of the shoulder and seam down each side. There will be a tiny ledge from the unworked stitches. Here, you sew the sleeve side seams to the body of the cardigan. Once those are attached, continue sewing the side seams of the sleeves. The rest of the finishing describes button placement. Locate the button holes first, and stitch around the holes before attaching the buttons to the other side. The pompom is made by crocheting a small rectangle, and gathering all the sides to make a ball that is stuffed and attached to the corner of the hood. I've attached a quick sketch, with the sleeve seams shown in orange. I hope this gives you the clarity you need to finish this cute sweater. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions.
