Cool weather is approaching and it's time to start making those fun accessories to stay warm. My sweet friend Ruby was in need of some ear warmers for Fall so with Anne Geddes Baby yarn, I used Red Heart's Sock It to Me Scarf and Headband free pattern. Here are the directions:EAR WARMERS With larger hook and 2 strands held together, ch 14.Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (beginning ch counts as first dc), [ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch] 5 times, turn”7 dc and 5 ch-1 spaces.Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), [dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, skip next dc] 5 times, dc in top of turning ch, turn. Repeat Row 2 until piece measures desired length from beginning, slightly stretched. Join Ends: Hold foundation ch and last row together, with sts matching, working through both thicknesses, slip st in each st across. Fasten off. Weave in ends. There is a ruffle you can a Add to the sides of the ear warmers but I wanted to add a bow and I thought maybe the ruffle would be too much. If you'd like to continue making this headband and adding the ruffle, click here for the full pattern. To make the bow, I used Red Heart's Bow Ties for Guys free pattern. Here are the directions: BOW Ch 37.Row 1: Working in back loops, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across “ 36 sts.Row 2: (Right Side) Ch 1, turn, working in both lo ops, sc in each sc across “ 36 sts.Rows 3-7: Repeat Row 2. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. CENTER BAND Ch. 11Row 1: Working in back loops, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across “ 10 sts.Row 2: (Right Side) Ch 1, turn, working in both loops, sc in each sc across “ 10 sts.Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. FINISHING Sew short ends of Bow Tie together to form a loop. Flatten loop, positioning seam in center of back. Sew top and bottom edges closed. With wrong side facing, fold a œW pleat lengthwise along center 1 [2.5 cm] of Bow and sew in place. With right sides facing, wrap Center Band around tucked center of Bow and sew ends together. It will look like this. I LOVE BOWS! I used the ends to sew onto the ear warmers. I couldn't just make ear warmers for this precious girl, I had to make her a cowl too! Continuing to use Anne Ge Addes Baby yarn, I made Red Heart's Ki Addo's Crochet Cowl free pattern. COWL Ch 84, slip st in first st to join into a ring, taking care not to twist sts.Foundation Row (Right Side): Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1 here and throughout), skip next 2 ch, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next 2 ch, *dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next 2 ch, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next 2 ch; repeat from * around, slip st in 3rd ch of beginning ch-4. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as a dc here and throughout), dc in same st, ch 1, dc in center dc of next 3-dc, ch 1, *skip next dc, 3 dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in center dc of next 3-dc, ch 1; repeat from * around, dc in same space as first st, slip st in top of beginning ch.Round 2: Ch 4, skip next dc, 3 dc in next dc, ch 1, *dc in center dc of next 3-dc, ch 1, skip next dc, 3 dc in next dc, ch 1; repeat from *around, slip st in 3rd ch of beginning ch-4.
