    Q: I think that row 3 should be the same as row 2 in order to be a moss stitch. As the pattern currently is, row 3 ends up with two chains between each sc meaning that if you follow on with another row 2 per pattern, you don’t have a single chain space to sc

It looks like you have found an error in the pattern, as there is a ch 1 at both the beginning and end of the repeated section on row 3.
