11 months agoGreat I made these & love them so much! Pattern is very easy to follow. Check them out on my insta @Mariemadeit__Helpful?1 out of 5 stars. Not Designed for Petite, Small, or Short People
3 months agoFollowed gauge and steam blocked all my squares to about 6”. The crotch gusset sits entirely way too low on these pants for someone who is a foot shorter than the models in the photos. I have to pull these up past the chest in order for the gusset to sit where it’s supposed to! I think my main gripe overall with this pattern is that it desperately needs more inclusive sizing. I really dislike how Yarnspirations likes to group together sizes…it’s fine for a sweater to be oversized and wear but an XS pant size is vastly different than a medium. I even removed an entire row from the pant legs because they were SO LONG. I think I’ve learned my lesson now that I will be staying away from certain yarnspirations patterns. In order for this to be wearable on me I will have to turn it into a jumpsuit or something like thatNo, I do not recommend this product.

Questions & Answers
Questions
Start typing your question and we'll check if it was already asked and answered.1 - 5 of 5 QuestionsQ: I’m having trouble understanding how the gusset fits in the small size pants
10 days ago1 AnswerA: For placement of the gusset on the Crochet Smarty Pants, you should have the pants all seamed up except the last granny squares at the crotch on the front and on the back of the pants. This means you have 4 granny squares to seam the gusset to. Each side of the gusset seems to be one granny square. We have added a rough drawing to show the four granny squares and the gusset. We hope this helps you make sense of the gusset. It is necessary for proper fit and to allow movement of the wearer.
5 days agoHelpful?Q: The instructions for the gusset are unclear - help! At the end of the 3rd row “4 sc” - where? An illustration would be helpful or a video?
7 months ago1 AnswerA: At the end of the 3rd row of the Gusset instructions for the Red Heart Smarty Pants Pattern, the 4 sc after “Turn” is a stitch count. You should have 4 sc at this point. You will be seeing stitch counts at the end of some of the rows from here on out, so you can double-check for accuracy. We would be more than happy to assist you should you have more questions. Just email inquire@yarnspirations.com and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
7 months agoHelpful?Q: Do you join the squares RS facing?
8 months ago1 AnswerA: It depends upon your joining method, but you would need right side facing or wrong side facing. It also depends upon the look you want.
8 months agoHelpful?Q: Were the granny squares blocked before joining them?
11 months ago1 AnswerA: We strongly recommend that you block prior to joining.
11 months agoHelpful?Q: I don’t understand the part about the gusset.
a year ago1 AnswerA: Hello! Thanks for reaching out regarding the Red Heart Crochet Smarty Pants pattern. The instructions to crochet the crotch gusset are at the top of page 5 of the pattern. After you have made that, the next set of instructions are to seam the legs of the pants all the way up, but not the crotch area because you will need to add the gusset. Sew the gusset into place according to the diagram on page 7 which shows it being added as a diamond rather than a square to the crotch area. Use the flat seam method which is shown on page 5 of the pattern. It may take some trial and error to get it just right, but we know you can do it. Unfortunately, the gusset is important and should not be left out so we encourage you to try your best. You can do this!
