Not to mention also knitting the remaining stitches from the spare needle?”
7 months ago1 AnswerA: We’re happy to help you with your Bernat Knit Baby Turban. After you have slipped the first 12 sts to a spare needle (or a stitch holder would also work) do not twist the stitches. You will just hold them to the back of your work and begin working the next 12 stitches in a K2, P2 pattern to the end. Then, you will work from your spare needle or stitch holder starting with that first stitch also in the K2, P2 pattern. Here is a link on how to cable. It should help you with this portion. https://www.yarnspirations.com/how-to-knit-cables.html When crossing a cable, it is common for a stretch of yarn to happen. The bigger the cable, the bigger the stretch of yarn can be. If you have a spare circular needle to put the stitches on before working the cable, it can help reduce that stretch of yarn. Be sure you are placing the stitches held on the needle behind your work. This will help you access and knit the stitches on your left needle. Additionally, you may need to pull the working yarn taut after working the first stitch to cinch it in so you don’t have that long stretch of yarn. It will look much tidier. Happy knitting!
7 months agoHelpful?Q: Slip first 12 stitches onto spare needle and hold at back of work. Ok. If I do that, wouldn’t that pit my working yarn at the beginning of that row? How do I get to the next 12 stitches to knit before I get to the stitches from the cable needle?🙀
7 months ago1 AnswerA: It is unusual to have the first stitch on a row to be cabled stitch. But, yes, you just use the yarn and knit into the second set of 12 stitches and then work the 12 stitches on the spare needle.
7 months agoHelpful?Q: Cross-stitch insertion in turban twist pattern….how would you execute it? Or if a video exists on how to do it?
7 months ago1 AnswerA: This is part of the pattern. It is just a cable. Cross Stitches: Next row: (RS). Slip first 12 (16) sts onto spare needle, and hold at back of work. (K2. P2) 3 (4) times. (K2. P2) 3 (4) times from spare needle. If you need video support, search how to work a cable cross in knitting on youtube or view: https://www.yarnspirations.com/en-ca/blogs/how-to/how-to-knit-cables?_pos=2&_psq=how+to+cable&_ss=e&_v=1.0
