8 months agoThis pattern is written oddly. The ch 3 space serves no purpose other than to create holes at the beginning of ever DC row (9, 14, 19). It seems it should just go straight into DC so you don't have a hole and nowhere clear to attach when beginning the next round. Also, when beginning row 14 the pattern isn't clear how many DC you need. You would think 79, but the way it's written with the ch 3 counting as the first DC you end up with an empty stitch at the end with no direction on if you need to sl-st to the ch 3/DC. Another reason to just continue with DC and skip the ch 3 altogether. No, I do not recommend this product.
Helpful?Quality of Product, 2.0 out of 5Value of Product, 2.0 out of 5Response from Yarnspirations:8 months agoConsumer CareYou are absolutely correct, you can work a standing double crochet instead of a chain 3 in any pattern that uses a ch 3 to count as a dc. Not all crocheters are aware of a standing dc, nor are all those aware of it comfortable with it. Whether you work a standing dc or a ch 3, you will work in the top of that stitch or the top of the ch 3 when working the next row. You are always welcome to work any pattern you find in whatever method works best for you. As with cooking, patterns are like recipes, meant to help the maker in the process, not meant to be a strict guideline that cannot be modified. The more comfortable you are with the process the easier it is to modify to your own preferences. Great job in realizing how you prefer to construct the hat. -
