2 years agoThe pattern asks for the wrong amount of yarn. The blue color that the pattern calls for only comes in a smaller skein than the standard red heart one - meaning I had to order four extra than the 7 ordered, for a total of 11. Just make sure that the yarn you are buying is the same yardage as the normal red heart skein. In addition to that, the two end pieces have all the moon phases I did not really like. I followed what the pattern called for and did not use bobbins but instead worked the cream yarn throughout. Because there is such a contrast between the two colors you can see the lighter color against the blue which bugs me. I would suggest trying the bobbins anyway.Helpful?Clarity of Pattern, 5.0 out of 53 out of 5 stars.Beautiful, but be prepared for a challenge!
8 months agoThis is a lovely pattern and the finished product is beautiful, however it requires major modifications to make it all work. The granny squares are not all the same size; which I didn't realize until well into the project. The moon motifs are all larger than the solid and distant star squares. There is also size variations in the moon motifs themselves. I reworked said moon motifs to make them the same size as the solid and distant star squares, but it turned into a real brain teaser!! So be warned and study the stitch diagrams before proceeding.Helpful?Response from Yarnspirations:8 months agoConsumer CareThank you so much for sharing your experience with the Moon Shadow Crochet Blanket. There are a few considerations. We recognize the number of rows are different for the motifs, but the types of stitches used also vary, and tension can be very important as you work through the different patterns. Checking as you go rather than waiting until the end to compare sizes is recommended, as you also noted in your comments. Also, although the motifs are meant to easily fit together for seaming, we find that it can be helpful to invest the time to block the individual pieces prior to seaming. We have a video for those unfamiliar: https://www.yarnspirations.com/blogs/how-to/video-mb-wet-blocking-and-steam-blocking-acrylic-yarn-crochet-stitch-sampler-baby-blanket-11?_pos=2&_psq=blocking&_ss=e&_v=1.0 We really appreciate that you took the time to contact us so others can also benefit from your project. -

Questions
Start typing your question and we'll check if it was already asked and answered.1 - 1 of 1 QuestionQ: Is this pattern incorrect? When joining squares, I get about 154 stitches each side. The panels each have 210 stitches. I've had to add to the sides to make the panels fit. Is this my error somewhere or is the pattern incorrect? Thanks for all you do.
2 years ago1 AnswerA: The long panels are created in single crochet, and you will be attaching them to squares perpendicularly, so there is not necessarily a one for one correlation between the stitches of the panels with the stitches of the squares. If I look at the photo carefully, and compare the row counts of the panels, it looks like there is some easing of the panel along the joined square seam. I would suggest pinning both ends and the center, as well as a number of points in-between before you begin sewing.
