RT(2sts), p9, (2+9=11 sts)* 3/4LC (11+7 =18 sts), p9 (18+9=27sts) repeat from *once more (27+7+9=43)RT (43 +2=45) There are only 33 stitches for lacy cables. What should be the correct row?
11 months ago1 AnswerA: For the Isle of Aran Throw, you are correct in that the Lacy Cable is set to be knit over 33 stitches but the stitch count changes mid pattern. If you take a closer look at Row 6: P2, *k2, inc-4, k2, p7; repeat from * once more, k2, inc-4, k2, p2—45 sts. you do 3 inc-4 defined as inc-4 = (K1, p1, k1, p1, k1) all in next stitch—4 stitches increased. These extra stitches are decreased in Row 8: P2, *k2, p5tog, k2, p7; repeat from * once more, k2, p5tog, k2, p2—33 sts. when you are returned to the original 33 stitches. Since cables tend to pull fabric in, the designer chose to add stitches prior and take them away after the cable row. I hope this gives you the clarity you need to move on.
