a year agoI've been knitting and ripping this pattern since I downloaded it yesterday, five times now. The stitches are relatively easy to knit. However, no matter what I do, the stitch count beginning with row 1 of lace lace pattern is off. At the end of row 1, there is not 7 sts after the lace pattern stitch repeats. There is only five stitches or eight. This is so frustrating to continually rip or undo back to the purl row before the lace pattern begins. Undoing the s2k1p2 is nearly impossible so I ripped back. This caused drop stitches and just a mess. I have a headache trying to get this right. I'm only left to conclude that the pattern is off somewhere. I realize it could be me but I've ended up with the same count discrepancy each and every time. No, I do not recommend this product.
Helpful?Quality of Product, 3.0 out of 5Value of Product, 1.0 out of 5Response from Yarnspirations:a year agoConsumer CareA quick count of that row showed me the math was right but I wanted to double check and worked it on a swatch. It does work out correctly but if you happen to miss any of the k1 or YOs, it will throw your stitch count off. Each pattern repeat uses up/produces 4 stitches. Knowing that, let's break it down so you can see how many repeats you'll have and how the math works out. 65-6= 59 stitches remaining 59-4= 55 stitches, repeat 1 55-4= 51 stitches, repeat 2 51-4= 47 stitches, repeat 3 47-4= 43 stitches, repeat 4 43-4= 39 stitches, repeat 5 39-4= 35 stitches, repeat 6 35-4= 31 stitches, repeat 7 31-4= 27 stitches, repeat 8 27-4= 23 stitches, repeat 9 23-4= 19 stitches, repeat 10 19-4= 15 stitches, repeat 11 15-4= 11 stitches, repeat 12 11-4= 7 stitches, repeat 13 7-7= 0 stitches, end of the row You'll have a total of 13 pattern repeats as written. I suggest using stitch markers after every couple and occasionally rechecking that each one is a total of 4 stitches. I find that with patterns like this it helps to read the stitches out loud as I work them. This helps me make sure that I'm not missing anything as I work vs finding out at the end of the row.California1 out of 5 stars. Not for first timers
9 months agoI have tried to start this project about (12) times, I’ve been gotten as far as about 18inches, but I do not feel like this is a “first-time” lace pattern. I’ve been crocheting and knitting for almost 10 years, and this is my first time lace pattern. While the pattern result is gorgeous it is extremely unforgiving for errors requiring a beginner to potentially do a lot of “tinking”.No, I do not recommend this product.

Unfortunately, when learning lace, quite a bit of thinking can be involved. Lace requires a lot of perseverance to learn. However, being a seasoned lace knitter, I do have some tips: 1) Placing stitch markers between each repeat breaks the knitting down into smaller sections, making it easier to identify mistakes sooner. 2) Check your work every row or two, section by section, to look for potential mistakes. 3) Learning to drop down and fix mistakes is an invaluable skill. It is best to learn to do so with the aid of the chart, in my experience. It gives a nice visual as you go. We hope you will try to learn lace knitting again. It’s a great skill to have. In the meantime, taking a break to knit what you already love can be helpful, too. Happy knitting! -

Please let me know how many stitches I need to cast on for this width. Is the pattern from * to * 8 sts? The math doesn't add up for me! Thanks in advance
6 months ago1 AnswerA: This pattern has a repeat of 8 stitches plus 17. So a cast of 49 will get you close to a 12" width.
