a year ago2 AnswersA: When it comes to knitting terms and pattern formatting there are a handful (like cables) that get used in different ways and this happens to be one of them. Since this cable is smaller due to it being on a sock the designer has opted to work purl stitches into it (whereas they are normally placed on either side to help the cable really pop and be noticeable) but the cable is still worked over the 6 stitches. Once you've moved the 4 to the cable needle, you'll k2 and then the rest is worked off the cable needle. Our pattern formatting uses periods where others use commas so the stitch directions can seem incorrect if you aren't used to that. The P2,K2 is worked over those 4 stitches held to the back of your work.
