Yarn has such wonderful pattern texture. My order was missing the navy blue. I hope they will include it in my next order which I’ve also ordered another navy blue.

I have purchased several colours of this yarn. I have knit a few sweaters, with more in the future. This yarn is sturdy, and hard-wearing. It is a delight to knit with. I get many compliments on the sweaters I have knit with Patons Classic wool.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Patons' Classic Wool is a wonderful yarn with great stitch definition, does not split and none of the balls I've ever used had knots. It washes well and is a joy not only to knit with, but also to wear. Highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed.

    Questions

    1 - 7 of 7 Questions

Q: How is Patons yarn dyed? I have sensitive skin and tend to react to acids dyes. Are there any natural fiber yarns that are naturally or food dyed? Also, does Patons chemically process yarns for superwash or water resistance or flame retardants?

    1 Answer

A: None of our products are naturally dyed. I do not believe any of the Patons yarns are treated to be Superwash, but that does not mean they have been chemically dyed.

Q: If I order 10 skeins, will they all be from the same dye lot?

    1 Answer

A: We appreciate your interest in our products! Similar to most retailers, when purchasing online, we are not able to guarantee dye lots. We do try, but depending on demand, the warehouse can go through several dye lots in less than a week. When dye lots are picked through looking for matching dye lots to complete a single order, we unfortunately sometimes end up with a few skeins in each of several dye lots.  If you cannot find the dye lot you were using, the best thing to do is to take some of what you have to the store and try to get the best match. Look at it in natural and artificial light if possible.  Work alternating rows with the two different dye lots to lessen the effect of knitting with a second dye lot. Not all stores carry all of our yarns in all available colors so you will need to check with the individual store. You can order any of our yarns in any color online.

Q: Is Pâtons Classic Wool colorfast? I have several pairs of slippers to felt and hope to Ave to do them all separately.

    1 Answer

A: While every effort is put in to ensure yarns wont bleed when washing, some day can bleed in a wash. When fulling a project made from yarn (how you turn the project into felted fabric), heat is required. Heat added to dyed fibers can cause dyes to bleed. We recommend making a gauge swatch with the yarns you want to use, and then felt the swatch to see how the dye behaves before trying it on a larger item.

Q: Would this yarn be suitable to handweave a small, flatweave floor rug on an upright tapestry loom (Beka Grizzly loom)?

A: Although you may wish to check with the manufacturer, you could likely use it for the weft yarn. We would not recommend it for the warp yarn.
