    Great yarn to work with!

I am a novice (at best) at crotchet work, but all of a sudden have gotten into making blankets. Started with a baby blanket and since have made two full size ones. All with Bernat Blanket Yarns. The yarn is very easy to work with and finished product easy to care for.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Love! Love! Love!

I love Bernat blanket yarns! This is the only type of yarn I've used for the last 2 years. I've made over 20 afghans and bedspreads. I have Parkinson's disease and can no longer go and enjoy walks so I sit on my porch and crochet away. Thank you very much for brightening this broken down lady's days._:heart::purple_heart::blue_heart::green_heart::yellow_heart:

Q: How many skeins do you recommend to make a queen sized blanket? I know it depends on stitch and everything too, but on average how many do you think that would take?

    1 Answer

A: This is definitely pattern dependent. Knitting uses 2/3 of what crochet calls for. Cables can add 20 to 30%. Gauge affects yarn requirements and can add as much as 300 grams of yarn to a blanket just by using a different gauge. Due to the many factors that effect yarn requirements, we cannot answer that. However, if you find a throw pattern that you like and you can get gauge using the same hook or needle size as the pattern, you can use the method below to calculate your yarn requirements. When you wish to change the size of blanket you are making, there is a quick guide to follow when purchasing your yarn.  This tip is based on purchasing the same yarn, as what is listed on the pattern. Double bed - 2 times what the afghan pattern calls for Queen bed - 3 times what the afghan pattern calls for King bed - 4 times what the afghan pattern calls for For example, if your afghan pattern calls for 7 balls of yarn, and you want to make a king size blanket, you will need 7 balls x 4 = 28 balls of yarn for the pattern you have chosen to make. We hope you have found this helpful!

Q: I'm looking for colors to match your "Bernat Blanket Yarn, Oceanside Item# 16120000103." Specifically, the dark blue and green colors, for edging and alternating stripes in a blanket I'm making for my grandson.

    1 Answer

A: Many of the colors in our multi-colored yarns are specific to that item, designed to be unique shades and not offered as a standalone color.     Unfortunately, we do not have a solid ball recommendation as color choice can be personal.  It is also difficult to capture the true color online so if possible, we would recommend that for best results, take your multicolored yarn to a shop and compare against solid colors in-person.

Q: Which yarn colors go nicely with Cozy Cabin?

    1 Answer

A: I would lean toward beach foam or olive. If we had a chocolate brown, it would also be amazing. You can also try Navy, but I would hold them together first. We do not have any of the colors in standalone colors. If you are able to do so, I would take a skein or project to the store to find a coordinate that you really like.

Q: Started a project in 2020. I bought Bernat Blanket Yarn in Country Blue originally. I just bought more and the colors are DRASTICALLY different. Any suggestions? Original yarn label says: 2019-06-401, 10106 Country Blue, 161110. Did the color change?
