Since knitting and crocheting consume yarn differently, it would make a difference in predicting what you would need to buy. Once you decide a pattern, you can create a swatch and use it to help calculate how much you will need for a larger project. When you swatch, you can weight the swatch and count how many of the swatches you would need for that size, and then multiply that number by the weight of the swatch to know how many skeins. You can use our website to help you identify a pattern.
