a year agoI thought this pattern would be easy. There were some challenges. Get the stitch down was first hurdle - grateful for you tube video. Once I got started it went quickly. I notice someone commented on how to put the sleeve in. Instructions not clear. I am a sewer so I hand sewed the sleeve until I had 5 rows left then matched the half point of the top of the sleeve to the shoulder seam and pulled through a piece of yarn to fit the top of the sleeve in the rest of the armhole making sure it was evenly spread out then sewed the rest of the sleeve. The top turned out beautiful. Unfortunate too big for me. I really like it so will make another in a smaller size. I did not do hdc stitch for the finish. I did 2 rows of sc.Yes, I recommend this product.

2 years agoI love the X-stitch, but I got stuck on the sleeves. I was making a medium size shirt ( the instructions are in orange) and, while I got the stitch count and measurements right, I'm not sure how the sleeve is actually supposed to be stitched to the body. I'm not sure I can finish this because it looks like something is going to pucker once I start stitching the sleeves and the seams.Helpful?Clarity of Pattern, 3.0 out of 5ohio1 out of 5 stars. Not so easy
8 months agoI really wanted to make this and it was going well once I figured out the X stitches but when I got to sleeves I found the pattern indecipherable. I chalked it up to a waste of time and frogged it. Sometimes patterns just aren't written in a language I jive with. This is one and I am not a beginner at all. sighHelpful?Response from Yarnspirations:8 months agoConsumer CareThank you for the feedback on the Mesh Stitch Crochet Top. 4 months ago1 AnswerA: Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, we do not have a video for the armhole shaping, but we are happy to break this section down for you. We are assuming when you ask about the arms, you are referring to the armhole shaping. - The 1st and 3rd rows have shaping, while the 2nd and 4th (“Next row”) do not. Shape armholes: 1st row: (RS). Sl st in first tr. - Work the following set of stitches which are in the parentheses 2 (2-2-3-4-4) times. (Sl st in next st, ch-1 sp, st) 2 (2-2-3-4-4) times. Sl st in next st and ch-1 sp. Ch 4. Skip next st. X-st in each X-st to last 3 (3-3- 4-5-5) X-sts. 1 tr in ch-1 sp of next X-st. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. 23 (26-29-30-34-38) X-sts. - Do not work the full row. You will turn early, leaving stitches unworked. 2nd row: Ch 4.1 tr in ch-1 sp of next X-st. X-st in each X-st to last X-st.1 tr in ch-1 sp of last X-st.1tr in last tr. Turn. - The 2nd row is worked in its entirety. 3rd row: Ch 4. Skip next tr. X-st in each X-st to last 2 tr. Skip next tr. 1 tr in last tr. Turn. 21 (24-27-28-32-36) X-sts. - Rep last 2 rows 1 (1-2-2-3-4) time(s) more. 19 (22-23-24-26-28) X-sts. Next row: Ch 4. X-st in each X-st to last tr. 1 tr in last tr. Turn.** Rep last row until armhole measures 6 3⁄4 (7 3⁄4-7 3⁄4-8 3⁄4-9 3⁄4- 9 3⁄4)" [17 (19.5-19.5-22-25-25) cm], ending on a WS or RS row. I hope this breakdown helps. Should you need more assistance, please email inquire@yarnspirations.com providing the pattern name, a photo of your work so far, and specific row(s) you are struggling with.
4 months agoHelpful?Q: What does "Sl st in next st, ch-1 sp, st" mean in shaping the arm holes? What st?
a year ago1 AnswerA: On the Mesh Stitch Crochet Top, the st, ch-1 sp, st refers to the top of the 'X-st' which is made up of three stitches. You are slip stitching across for the underarm until you reach the start of the armhole shaping. I hope this gives you the clarity you need to move on with this cute top. DO not hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions.
