Q: Since the yarn is discontinued, I would like to make with a wool yarn. What’s the total yarnage used in the pattern for size M?

A: I agree that this pattern takes 7 balls @ 211 yds each, but that is not worsted, which is #4 in weight. This pattern calls for a #6 super bulky. :-)

Q: I can't figure out the step that says to chain x amount then skip x amount of stitches. Am I supposed to fasten off on either side of the skipped stitches?

A: Actually, I found all the stitch counts from Divide Sleeves and Body, and beyond, to be wrong. There is no way you can have that many stitches in that row, or 123 in the next row (L). I realized that you should hdc to the first v-stitch, chain your underarm, then attach at the next v-stitch. Hdc across to the next v-stitch, chain your underarm, then attach at the next v-stitch. (I'm attaching in the chain of the v-stitch with a hdc.) Hdc to the end, ch 2 and turn. After doing the next row in hdc, I had nowhere near 123 stitches (L), but I tried it on and it fit perfectly. After a lot of muttering, hair pulling and a little swearing...I finally figured it out. Am finishing up the length. I'll let you know how the sleeves work out. :-)

Q: I'm having a hard time getting this started, on the body are there supposed to be v stitches inside the chain spaces from the v stitches on the row before? Or are they going into the chain spaces before the v stitches?

A: Thank you for reaching out about the Cozy Collar Crochet Cardigan. You should be doing the V-stitch in center chain of the V from the row below. I hope this guidance will help you move forward with confidence.

Q: Can this be made a little shorter. If so, how. I have an idea, but I want it to be right. I don’t want to guess.

A: Yes, you can start your ribbing sooner to make it shorter, or start it later to make it longer.
