2 months agoBought this yarn years ago when I first learned how to crochet. I was too intimated to try this as I thought it was so beautiful and looked so complicated. Turns out it was an easy pattern to follow. The low rating is because the yarn is quite stiff and unpleasant to work with. I pushed through because I liked the shawl so much. Having to cut the colors that are so similar was also a challenge. I would have preferred to use separate skeins of yarn. While I met gauge, the shawl is not 80" long. It's about 70". And unless the model shown is 4'2", this shawl is not long and draped as it shows in the picture. I am 5'10" and it barely wraps around my shoulders. I will not be able to get any use out of it as it's just way to small. Lots of time, lots of yarn wasted. IF you try this pattern, I'd add some additional rows before you hit the middle and then mirror them on the other side.Helpful?Response from Yarnspirations:2 months agoConsumer CareThank you for sharing your feedback with us! We’re glad to hear that you found the pattern easy to follow, even though you initially felt intimidated. It’s always wonderful when a project turns out to be more approachable than expected. We’re so sorry to hear that the yarn hasn’t met your expectations. We’ll be more than happy to try and help as best we can. Please reach out to us at inquire@yarnspirations.com, and we will get back to you as quickly as possible. Regarding the size, we do apologize that the shawl didn’t meet your expectations in terms of length. Our pattern is designed to fit a range of body types, but we understand that it may not have worked as expected for you. Your suggestion of adding additional rows before the middle is a great idea, and we’ll be sure to take that into consideration for future updates. We truly appreciate your input and hope that you’re able to find a project that’s both the right size and more enjoyable to work with. Thank you again for your thoughts!1 out of 5 stars. The colors are pretty! That's all that's good.
a year agoI bought this several months ago, then selected a yarnspirations pattern for a crochet shawl. UGH to both. I had to separate the colors for the yarn, which using 3 of each, took hours. The yarn has many stained areas where color dripped or drained as it went through the dying process. Also, the yarn is rough, making it difficult to use with a J hook (which my pattern called for). It caused irritation on my fingers, the same as wool would do to me. Some of the colors are hardly distinguishable from the next one, as they are so similar it was hard to decide where to cut for color separation. The yarn will be donated. The pattern is being deleted.Helpful?CaliforniaSkill LevelExperienced1 out of 5 stars.Incorrect Pattern
a year agoThe pattern is crazy. The directions say repeat 2nd row until all 104 rows of Stripe Pat are complete. Yet the stripe pattern says "These 96 (not 104) rows form Stripe Pat. The colors that you show for any given letter change in that stripe pattern. In other words, A starts out as a kind of brown but as you follow along and A shows up again it is a blue-gray. Most confusing thing I have ever seen. This needs to be revised and corrected. No, I do not recommend this product.
Helpful?Clarity of Pattern, 1.0 out of 5Response from Yarnspirations:a year agoConsumer CareThank you for your feedback regarding the ZigZag Time In Crochet Shawl. We have sent your concerns to our design team regarding the number of rows in the stripe sequence. Please work until all 96 rows of the stripe sequence has been completed; not 104 rows. As for the colors possibly being out of sequence, we did double check them against the letter sequencing of the rows and they’re correct as shown in the pattern. We appreciate the time you have taken to provide us your valuable feedback. We apologize for the confusion. Happy stitching! -
