    Start with a swatch

    This pattern was really hard to follow at the start. I followed the directions and it wasn't coming out right. I went back and did a swatch using 40 chains to start and was able to figure out that I had to use the Chain 2 at the beginning of row 2 as the final double crochet at the end of row 4.

    Pattern is flawed

    I really wanted to make this for my dad. However, the pattern is flawed and confusing because it doesn’t work out at the end. I tried it twice following the pattern to the letter. The chain is too long or short if following the pattern. I found that by chaining 221 instead of 210 it works out.
