Q: I don’t understand the ”shaping the heel” part for men’s size. For rows 1-4, how should I be able to have enough stitches or increase the stitch count on every row if I’m decreasing the stitches on every row (sc2tog)?

    1 Answer

A: We have a complete video tutorial for the Family Crochet Socks and Marly Bird does a fantastic job explaining how the heel shaping works. We have bookmarked this section of the video for your convenience. https://youtu.be/ggaridhsN3I?feature=shared&t=1135

Q: the pattern alternates between instructing you to single crochet (sc) into other sc, or into stitches. at one point there is a directions that just says 13 st. or it will say sc into next 11sc. sc into nect sc. unsure what to do here??

    1 Answer

A: Thank you for contacting us regarding the Family Crochet Socks pattern. At the end of row instructions when the pattern simply says “13 sts” this is the stitch count you should have at the end of that particular row. This is to be used as a guide to make sure you’re right on track with your sock. Other times, when it says to sc into next 11 sc, you will literally work one sc stitch into each of the next 11 sc stitches. We hope this clarification helps you understand exactly what you need to do. If you need further assistance, please send us an email at inquire@yarnspirations.com with details of where you are in the pattern and which size you are making, so that we can provide accurate assistance. Happy stitching!

Q: i’m confused on the 5th row for size 2-4

    1 Answer

A: For Size 2 to 4, there is no 5th row called out. Go to the third column and continue working with the section for all sizes to shape the instep. Be sure to follow the instructions for the size you are working and skip instructions for sizes you are not.
