Hi, I am Sarah Zimmerman, the crochet designer behind the blog Repeat Crafter Me. It is such a treat to be guest posting here at Yarnspirations again! It’s back to school time and whether you are looking for a little pencil pouch for your kids or a maybe a new crochet hook case for yourself, this is the project for you! A quick, easy, functional, and cute crochet case that is in the shape of a pencil! I used Bernat Super Value which is one of my absolute favorite worsted weight yarns! The line has a vast color selection (79 to be exact!) and this premium acrylic yarn has a great texture and feel. I like to keep a full stock in my yarn closet so the color I need is readily available when inspiration hits. You will be able to easily crochet several of these pencil pouches in no time at all! You can find the pattern and material list here and a photo tutorial below! Begin by crocheting the two main pieces. Be sure to sew the 1 inch button on the shorter pencil piece. Button can be any color you’d like! Place the two pieces together (button facing outward and silver ridges on the eraser facing outward). Insert your hook through the edges and pull yellow yarn through, making slip stitches to join the edges together. When your edges change color (silver and pink parts), add in that coordinating color along and continue to slip stitch along those edges. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends. Remember to keep the top of the pouch open! Slide in your hooks, pens, and pencils! Maybe even a little candy bar or treat for the teacher?! Lots of possibilities with this simple project!
