    awesome doily

I made this doily using natural color size 10 Lydia's crochet thread. I love it! So easy and fast to crochet but looks so chic. I especially love the slightly ruffled edge. I plan to make it again in alternating black and orange for Halloween. Maybe I'll just make one for every season by mixing and matching colors because it's so versatile!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Mistakes in the written pattern

I'm in the process of making this doily, but there are already a couple of pattern mistakes that should be corrected...and I'm only on Rnd 7-8. First of all, there is no notation on the pattern instructions as to whether the ch 3 at the beginning of those rounds counts as a dc. It does, and it should mention that. Beginning in Rnd 2, it says to chain 3 and then in the next st, put a dc, ch3, and another dc in the same stitch. BUT, if you do that, it throws the pattern off and there's that ch3 just there. BUT when I use the ch 3 as the first dc and then do a ch 3 and another dc in the same space as the first ch 3, then the pattern works out perfectly. And looking at the photo, that's exactly how it has to be done. This might not trip up an experienced crocheter, but it might cause a beginner or novice to create a doily that won't turn out properly because the stitches won't match up. The second mistake comes in Rnd 7 (& since Rnd 8 is the same, affects that, as well). The pattern says to ch3, then dc in the next 3 stitches, ch2, and dc in the next 4 stitches. Then dc in the next 4 st , ch 2, and dc in the next 4 st. Repeat around, and then at the end, ch 2 and ss to join. However, what it neglects to say is that you also have to ch 2 between groups in order to get 26 ch2 spaces in the round. So in other words, you must work 4dc, ch2, 4dc in each group of 8dc. AND you must also ch2 between groupings. I caught this when it said to ch2 before joining with a ss, and then checked the total number of ch2 spaces, but again, a beginner/novice crocheter might not have caught it. I hope someone goes over the pattern and makes sure there's no other mistakes, but if I find more, I will update. It's a very pretty pattern, and I'm sure you want everyone to be able to make it properly!

    Yes, I recommend this product.
